Sidetracked Again

8/5/13 Monday at Jefferson, OH (Kenisee Lake-TT)

This morning I got busy cleaning house, with special projects microwave/convection oven scrubbing and efforts to get rid of toilet stains. At the same time, John got the old chassis batteries out (our friends told us at our “water” gathering to get them checked out), took them to Autozone and found out they are both “bad”. So he bought a couple at NAPA (cheaper, believe it or not), then put them in. Unfortunately, the lights on the dash did strange things and the engine didn’t begin to turn over. John called our friends at Elite Repair in Oregon. They had him check several things and noted maybe he should take them back to NAPA, to have them checked out. Meanwhile he got talking to Ove (John was looking for a better multimeter) who looked things over and suggested that John let the trickle charge bring our new batteries up to charge first. The batteries were charged to about 12.7v. That may solve everything. Thank heavens for friends!!

Our hummingbirds are really going through the sugar liquid since our neighbors, who were also supplying food, left this morning. Will have to fill it up twice today. I see that these little guys do chirp at each other and use spreading out their tails as a way of scaring off the other guys. I’m even noticing different silhouette shapes/individuals. So entertaining.

This afternoon I got hold of Rocky regarding an ROD membership. He said he has to check with someone to see if he could do it, that maybe he could squeeze us in as the last. That doesn’t sound good. I also found out from Thousand Trails that Twin Mills RV Resort (Encore) does NOT let us TT people stay there for $3/night. It feels like we’ve tried to hard so go the northern route with more stops and less miles, not to mention full hookups, but it just doesn’t seem possible at this point.

We were going to see the covered bridges, but I needed to post the blog and that pretty much finished out our afternoon. .John talked to Bill while I was occupied at the lodge.  ..Sidetracked once again..At the end, John caught up with me and Karen came to explain her recommendations for roads to Wilmington from here, as well as the way from Wilmington to Decatur.

We got our walk in this evening! Bob and Kathie actually saw the covered bridges today, so guess we need to get out exploring tomorrow.

About Patricia Elser

I've always loved the loose, flowing, transparent look of watercolors, of Chinese paintings and their calligraphy, but alas, no watercolor classes were available when I was in school, so that interest remained buried until my children were grown. Even then, I was afraid that I couldn't really paint, so upon my sister's advice, I actually started to take classes. I signed up for every class available, determined to learn no matter how afraid I was. I came upon a teacher, Stan Miller, who inspired me, who opened the door to success in watercolor. I love to look at beautiful images. I want to capture them forever. All my life, photography was how I gathered images of the beauty I saw. Thanks to all that photography, I enjoy composing pictures, especially up close. Watercolors allow me to add more of me in their translation of that beauty. My paintings reflect my love for music and dance, with their rhythm and flow. I am fascinated by the play of light, so it appears in my pictures as drama for they are filled with darks and lights. Maybe it's the challenge, maybe it's the beauty, but now, when a work comes together, it fills my soul.
