Driver’s Slide Issues

8/26/13 Monday at Williamsfield, OH (Pymatuning Adventure Resort-ROD)

Another gorgeous day, although predicted to get pretty hot (high 80’s) with chance of storms tonight. I’ve decided to try major cleaning every 2 weeks instead of every week.

After lunch we decided to get our touchy slides in. The Passenger slide (after John checked that the screw had space to pass) went in fine. The Driver’s slide did not. We struggled for hours, trying to shift the weight of the rig via the jacks, looking for anything that could be stopping it. Around 2:30 a neighbor stopped and offered to help. After a couple more tries, he went to look for a maintenance guy. Pretty soon, he arrived, using a large jack and 2X6 board to raise the problem slide a little. I pushed the button to let it in a little, then a little more and it cleared the first spot. I brought it in a ways, then John had me take it out a bit, then in, then we were good to go all the way. Needless to say, THAT slide is staying in until we get to Decatur for repairs. Sheesh, this is NOT fun.

Although the Passenger slide came in okay, the top is pressing against the mirror wall on the inside, so I hope that settles out when we leave.

For the afternoon, we took our chairs to the shade under a tree (highs in the 80’s today, with humidity), to calm down and read.

At night we watched a taped movie: 50/50. Good show.

About Patricia Elser

I've always loved the loose, flowing, transparent look of watercolors, of Chinese paintings and their calligraphy, but alas, no watercolor classes were available when I was in school, so that interest remained buried until my children were grown. Even then, I was afraid that I couldn't really paint, so upon my sister's advice, I actually started to take classes. I signed up for every class available, determined to learn no matter how afraid I was. I came upon a teacher, Stan Miller, who inspired me, who opened the door to success in watercolor. I love to look at beautiful images. I want to capture them forever. All my life, photography was how I gathered images of the beauty I saw. Thanks to all that photography, I enjoy composing pictures, especially up close. Watercolors allow me to add more of me in their translation of that beauty. My paintings reflect my love for music and dance, with their rhythm and flow. I am fascinated by the play of light, so it appears in my pictures as drama for they are filled with darks and lights. Maybe it's the challenge, maybe it's the beauty, but now, when a work comes together, it fills my soul.
