10/3/13 Thursday at Front Royal, VA (Skyline Ranch Resort-RPI)

This morning, John scrubbed the windshield free of its plethora of squashed bugs (gathered only on our last trip from Morgantown, WV). When he finished that, totally flumoxed by the swarm of gnats around his head, I worked on the area below the windshield. Sheesh, by the time you’ve been still for several minutes, those gnats are all over your eyes, ears, nose, mouth. Now that is torture! At least they don’t bite, as far as we could tell.

Next, he worked at tacking down the 1” black vertical strip on the driver’s side slide, that has been peeling away and getting the slide caught when we try to bring it in. Someday…..it would be nice to get that situation solved. He still needs to tack down (using 3M black super weatherstrip adhesive per advice of Fleetwood tech) the wiper seal on the outside, but he’s waiting until our next campground. We’re keeping the slide in during this stay.

After lunch we went to Front Royal. At Martin’s grocery parking lot, we accessed the Internet (using our phone hotspots), posting the blog and reading some email. I discovered that our request for a condo at Marathon, FL (in the middle of the keys) had been confirmed. We’d been on a waitlist since January! We thought we’d never get in. Then we got our grocery shopping done.

At home we printed out the confirmation to find out it’s a 2 bedroom condo!! We have friends who live near Orlando and have offered us their RV pad (with hookups) whenever we wished. The wheels started rolling.

Right after supper we drove to Front Royal, to call those friends, to see if their offer was still in effect for January and to invite them to join us at the condo. They were thrilled, although they are currently spending 6 weeks in the Keys!!! So they may not want to go back in January, but they are happy to let us use their pad. Even for the whole month of January (1st week (4-11) while we’re at Marathon condo, 2nd week live in our rig at their pad, 3rd week (18-26) while we’re on cruise). Sure hope they can come join us. Such excitement! How wonderful are friends, eh?

About Patricia Elser

I've always loved the loose, flowing, transparent look of watercolors, of Chinese paintings and their calligraphy, but alas, no watercolor classes were available when I was in school, so that interest remained buried until my children were grown. Even then, I was afraid that I couldn't really paint, so upon my sister's advice, I actually started to take classes. I signed up for every class available, determined to learn no matter how afraid I was. I came upon a teacher, Stan Miller, who inspired me, who opened the door to success in watercolor. I love to look at beautiful images. I want to capture them forever. All my life, photography was how I gathered images of the beauty I saw. Thanks to all that photography, I enjoy composing pictures, especially up close. Watercolors allow me to add more of me in their translation of that beauty. My paintings reflect my love for music and dance, with their rhythm and flow. I am fascinated by the play of light, so it appears in my pictures as drama for they are filled with darks and lights. Maybe it's the challenge, maybe it's the beauty, but now, when a work comes together, it fills my soul.
