3rd Repair Day-Engine Service

5/7/14 Wednesday in Decatur, IN (Allied Recreation Group)

Ready for our driver by 6 am, then waiting for our Engine Service and Chassis lube business to be completed in the morning. We spent our wait time on our lap tops. Still suffering from our colds. We took a 2 mile walk last night before supper. When we got home the coughing was rampant. Guess it wasn’t the best idea. This morning as I bent to get the wastebasket I tweaked my back. I have been sitting around a lot which isn’t good for your back I could use a few days OFF, as in sick days.

We thought that if all was done, including the paperwork, by 11:00 am we’d maybe move on but that didn’t happen. It took until 11:00 am for the work to get done (putting oil in our RV takes a long time because there is so little angle for the oil to flow down), but not the paperwork and they take their lunch break at 11 am. So John let them drive the rig to the dump station when they finished so he got that chore done then. I’m walking gingerly all this time and my back is tender but manageable. ,

After lunch we returned to the office for the paperwork part. Well, it was 1 pm before they were ready to present it but we were having a great time sharing RV tips, including the free phone apps Waze (GPS) and Key Ring (put your grocery store key ring IDs on your phone). Our bill was a pleasant surprise: $634 for the engine work and $100 for the extras (D/S and P/S window sealing, checking clearance lights, screwing down wiper blade on P/S slide). Note that the majority of time they spent on our 2 water leak issues that were under their 90 day warranty when they’d reappeared, so we didn’t have to pay for those. Whew! We’re so happy with this shop, they’re so helpful, caring and have no problem if you hang around as they work. They care.

Of course the office closes at 2:30 pm. We joked about having a potluck in the lot, but without picnic tables it really wasn’t an option. When we got back to our coach I just kept feeling more achy and my head was hurting. John was so sweet to do the grocery trip alone when I asked to stay home. He’s not so well himself. Supper was easy, leftover Mexican dinner. We enjoyed taped TV shows (love Dancing With The Stars) then got to bed before 10:00 pm. Looking forward to NOT getting up by 5:30 am.

About Patricia Elser

I've always loved the loose, flowing, transparent look of watercolors, of Chinese paintings and their calligraphy, but alas, no watercolor classes were available when I was in school, so that interest remained buried until my children were grown. Even then, I was afraid that I couldn't really paint, so upon my sister's advice, I actually started to take classes. I signed up for every class available, determined to learn no matter how afraid I was. I came upon a teacher, Stan Miller, who inspired me, who opened the door to success in watercolor. I love to look at beautiful images. I want to capture them forever. All my life, photography was how I gathered images of the beauty I saw. Thanks to all that photography, I enjoy composing pictures, especially up close. Watercolors allow me to add more of me in their translation of that beauty. My paintings reflect my love for music and dance, with their rhythm and flow. I am fascinated by the play of light, so it appears in my pictures as drama for they are filled with darks and lights. Maybe it's the challenge, maybe it's the beauty, but now, when a work comes together, it fills my soul.
